Scientific Writing

We also offer two different workshops designed to refine the writing skills of PhD students and post-doctoral researchers: "Scientific Writing and Publication" and "Writing Convincing Research Proposals." These workshops aim to provide participants with comprehensive insights into the essential elements of effective scholarly writing.

Recognizing the unique needs of researchers in geography and computer science, the workshops are meticulously tailored to address the specific requirements of these disciplines. This customization ensures that the content is highly relevant and provides targeted guidance to meet individual needs.

Scientific Writing and Publication

In the "Scientific Writing and Publication" workshop, participants are trained to enhance the clarity and persuasiveness of their texts through the application of structural principles, rules of argumentation, sentence structure, and word choice. The workshop includes an analysis of participants' own texts and explores the differences between English and German writing styles, offering strategies for improvement. By the end of the workshop, attendees will understand that writing is a craft that can be mastered with practice and the right techniques.

Writing Convincing Research Proposals

The "Writing Convincing Research Proposals" workshop focuses on helping participants identify the strengths and weaknesses of their proposals. Attendees will learn to highlight their strengths and the benefits of their projects, crafting impactful sentences and concise abstracts. This training is designed to enhance the persuasiveness and clarity of research proposals, increasing their chances of success.

By participating in these workshops, researchers will acquire the skills necessary to communicate their ideas effectively and persuasively, thereby advancing their academic and professional careers.
