Summer Symposium 2025: Connection.Points. Intertwined and interconnected
In their 1976 published chapter „Rhizom“ Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari challenge traditional hierarchical structures of knowledge, advocating for a rhizomatic-model of thought that embraces multiplicity, diversity, and non-linearity: “A rhizome ceaselessly establishes connections between semiotic chains, organizations of power, and circumstances relative to the arts, sciences, and social struggles.” Especially in our times of multiple crises and global challenges, the exploration of multidirectional connections and entanglements seems to be more important than ever. Just as a rhizome creates connections that are not limited to a single form, direction or path, and challenges traditional epistemic structures, the interdisciplinary exploration of ‘connection points’ and interconnections encourages us to think across disciplinary boundaries in order to gain new approaches and insights. In 2025, the Graduate School for Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Augsburg invites postdocs (and advanced predocs) in the humanities and social sciences to explore complex interdisciplinary, methodological, and theoretical interconnections under the theme “Connection.Points: Intertwined and Interconnected”.
