Merry christmas and a healthy new year

The president of the University of Augsburg, Prof Sabine Doering-Manteuffel, wishes all members of the university a happy and healthy Christmas. She also a podcast recommendation for the festive season.

Christmas time is a time to pause and reflect on past successes as well as challenges. 2024 brought new conflicts and crises to many parts of the world, which we have all been confronted with on a daily basis. In these unsettling and demanding times, it seems important to me that we maintain the necessary hope and energy to at the very least exert the best possible influence on our own personal activities and surroundings.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone for their commitment to our university. This year, we were able to not only inaugurate the new teaching building of the Faculty of Medicine but also make great strides in research and on campus. An example of this is the university’s excellent performance in the international UI GreenMetrics ranking in which it was awarded the prize of “Best New Participating University.”

For some interesting listening over the festive season, it’s worth taking the time to listen to the new episode in our podcast series “UniA Research to Go,” this time with the religious education expert, Prof Georg Langenhorst.

On behalf of the university executive, I wish everyone a peaceful end of year and a good and healthy start to 2025.
