Summary

The goal of the overall project HoWa-innovativ is a spatially more accurate prediction of floods using innovative precipitation measurement and forecasting techniques. The subproject of the University of Augsburg is dedicated to the improvement of precipitation measurements using data from commercial microwave links (CMLs). Precipitation fields will be generated from the CML data alone, as well as from a combination of DWD radar data and CML-derived rainfall information. For both methods the rainfall information will then be continuously provided as a test rainfall product for the flood early warning systems in the other sub-projects.
