Fields of work and expertise
Sensors and measurement technology
An important part of the work at the chair is the use of sensors, sensor systems and measurement technology. Together with partners, we design, develop and test innovative ways of recording diagnostically relevant information. Both established metrological approaches in innovative settings and new sensor principles are used.
Sensor data processing
Sensor data processing is a central component of the work at the professorship. Conventional methods of image and signal processing as well as machine learning methods are used and further developed. Our own methods are designed to provide the most far-reaching information possible in combination with innovative sensors and sensor systems.
Modelling and simulation
Modelling and simulation is the third field of work at the chair. Corresponding considerations are incorporated into the design of new procedures, the implementation of our own data processing methods and testing. Both in silico models, for example Monte Carlo simulations of light-tissue interaction, and physical models, e.g. fludi phantoms, are used and further developed at the chair for our research and development.
