Appointment of Prof. Kipker as Member of the Digital Advisory Board of the Society for Telematics Applications (Gematik)
Prof. Dr. Dennis-Kenji Kipker, along with several other high-ranking experts, has been appointed as member of the Digital Advisory Board of Gematik - the highest committee in Germany which accompanies and supports the digitalisation of health insurance companies.
The primary role of the Digital Advisory Board is to evaluate the development concepts of Gematik and provide advisory support. In this context, the Board will focus on balancing data protection and security requirements, handling medical data for healthcare and research purposes, and addressing ethical issues related to the management of medical data as explained by the IT security expert and jurist. It aims to actively promote further development of digitalising the German healthcare system by formulating recommended actions.
The focal topics, namely security and user-friendliness, will be addressed from multiple perspectives – a goal that is ensured by the pluralistic composition of the Digital Advisory Board which includes representatives of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI) as well as other high-ranking experts from the fields of medicine and ethics along with representatives of patients and researchers.
