In addition to the model medical course, the Medical Faculty is also responsible for the medical part of the bachelor's programme in medical information sciences.

With the training of so-called "data scientists" for medicine, the range of courses fits in ideally with the research priorities of the new Medical Faculty and strengthens the successful development of Augsburg's computer science with interdisciplinary programmes such as business, geo or engineering computer science.

The bachelor's course in medical information sciences started in the winter semester 2018/19 and the master's course started in the winter semester 2021/22.
