Katharina Wabnitz studied human medicine at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen. After one year of clinical work as part of the Austrian basic training program for physicians in Graz, Austria, she completed an MSc in Public Health at the London School of School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)  in Great Britain. She subsequently worked as a research associate at The Lancet-Chatham House Commission on Improving Population Health post-COVID-19 (University of Cambridge) and in the Evidence-based Public Health working group of the Chair of Public Health and Health Services Research at the LMU Munich. She wrote her medical thesis under the supervision of Prof. Eva Rehfuess on the evaluation of the S3-guideline Measures for the prevention and control of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in schools. In her policy advisory role research associate at the Centre for Planetary Health Policy (CPHP) of the German Alliance on Climate Change and Health (KLUG e.V.), she focused in particular on the co-benefit potential of prevention and health promotion, on the political governance of prevention and health promotion in Germany, as well as commercial determinants of planetary health and the sufficiency approach. At the IEHHS, she coordinates the development of grant proposal for a DFG Research Unit on the integration of empirical and normative disciplines in the context of climate health and climate justice.
