Research at the Media Reality Division
Research at the Division Media Reality takes place at the interface of communication and media studies. In his opening lecture, Professor Wimmer outlined the overarching research perspective of the Department of Media Reality. The central topics of the department (media culture and mediatization, public relations and participation research as well as virtualization) are investigated in numerous third-party funded and teaching research projects, including a broad spectrum of qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical social research. In addition, conferences, workshops and a series of lectures take place on an ongoing basis. Our research lab, which is open to all students of the institute and the faculty, plays a central role in our research efforts. Students with an interest in gaming and virtual reality can exchange ideas with the lecturers at the GameLab Meet-Ups twice a semester.
