In their bachelor thesis, students address scientific topics that are currently of public interest and are related to the research areas of the chair.

Admission requirements
For writing a bachelor thesis, an application is required. Please note that we cannot garantuee acceptance of all applications received. The number of courses attended at the chair as well as the general grade point average have a positive effect on acceptance. Seminar participants in the Bachelorseminar Accounting or in the International Accounting Seminar whose overall grade is at least 2.5 are guaranteed acceptance.
Application
You can hand in your application for a bachelor thesis at any time. For this purpose, please fill out our online application form, which you can access via the button "Application Bachelor Thesis" below.
Applicants without guaranteed acceptance need to submit the following documents via upload in the online application form:
- A letter of motivation: Please explain why you would like to write your bachelor thesis at the Chair of Auditing & Controlling (Prof. Dr. W. Schultze) on the topics you chose from the preference list (max. 1 page).
- A current transcript of records (studis Auszug).
A list of bachelor thesis topics from which you can choose your personal topic preferences is available directly in the registration form and can also be found here . You can also add an own topic suggestion directly in the registration form, which we will be glad to check and consider if possible. Topics are assigned by the chair; we try our best to take into account your preferences.

Application acceptances including topic assignment or rejections will be sent by e-mail as soon as possible after reception of your application.
After your admission, you will discuss the concrete topic and title of your bachelor thesis with your respective supervisor. You also agree with your supervisor on your individual time schedule for writing your bachelor thesis (for concrete information on the time schedule see the above-mentioned document on short information on writing your bachelor thesis).
The final submission of the bachelor thesis should be done in the respective ongoing semester, i.e. in the winter semester by 31.03. and in the summer semester by 30.09.. Please consider a correction time of up to 8 weeks for your further individual planning (e.g. master's application etc.). It is your own responsibility to register your work accordingly in time. Therefore, apply as early as possible, i.e. approx. 6 weeks before you would like to start with your bachelor thesis.
Please note that your registration for a bachelor thesis at our chair is binding. If you fail to complete the required work without justification or drop out, the chair reserves the right to take this decision into account when you reapply for a bachelor thesis position or for participation in further courses with attendance restrictions.

Exam modalities
After consultation with your supervisor, you are required to officially register the bachelor thesis by submitting the registration form that is available on the website of the examination office to the chair. You have two months to complete and hand in your bachelor thesis.

Master thesis

An application is required to write a master's thesis. Please note that we cannot guarantee acceptance of all applications. The number of courses attended at the chair as well as the general grade point average have a positive effect on acceptance. Seminar participants in the Accounting Research Seminar whose overall grade is at least 2.5 are guaranteed acceptance.
Topic assignment
The topic is assigned in consultation with the supervisor.
Exam modalities
After consultation with the supervisor, you are required to register the master's thesis by submitting the application form (available on the website of the examination office) to the chair.
