Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum
Research labs (small project workshops)
The Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum - a Center for Transnational Studies - is an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research center at the University of Augsburg, which merges, connects and brings together research foci and key issues in the cultural sciences, humanities and social sciences and promotes their public visibility. It encourages academic exchange between its members, coordinates international cooperation, organizes conferences, facilitates the publication of research results and offers support in the administration and acquisition of third-party funds.
The Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum continuously distributes grants for
Research Labs (small project workshops)
The Research Lab grant scheme is only open to members of the Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum. The scheme enables JFZ members to invite 4-8 colleagues to a small project workshop held in Augsburg (on- or off-campus). The objective of a Research Lab must be to debate a research topic, to further develop an existing project idea or to work on a specific funding proposal. The Research Lab provides a framework for intense discussions and focussed work.
Invitations to a Research Lab can be extended to colleagues from the University of Augsburg as well to national and international researchers involved in the corresponding project. If funding is approved for a Research lab grant application, the JFZ will cover the following costs:
- Accommodation and meal expenses for all participants for 1 or 2 nights at a conference center in the greater Augsburg area (up to € 200 per person per day), as well as the rent for a conference room
- Travel expenses (2nd class train or economy class flight tickets) for participants not residing in Augsburg
JFZ will also provide administrative support for organizing the Round Table.
The Research Lab participants must submit a short final report that outlines the key findings and the next steps towards submitting a funding proposal.
Guidance for applicants
Applications for a Research Lab should include the following documents:
