The Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum - Research College for Transnational Studies (JFZ) at the University of Augsburg is a centrally located academic institution with an interdisciplinary and international orientation in the field of cultural studies, humanities and social sciences. As a Center for Advanced Studies and as an international site of exchange between subjects and disciplines, the Center aims to initiate and promote innovative research and to encourage worldwide communication and networking between researchers.
The JFZ is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research into the phenomena and problems of internationally interlinked societies in the past, present and future.
It also coordinates national and international cooperation with major research centres and promotes scientific exchange, thereby also benefiting young researchers through its guest lecturers, conferences, congresses and fellows. It is open to visiting researchers.
