The Volkswagen Foundation's creativity funding program "Night Science" is aimed at researchers who wish to expand their creative abilities in research and develop unconventional ideas, hypotheses, or theories. The program seeks to interdisciplinary teams of two researchers who inspire, complement, and challenge each other. The aim is to create a space where new approaches can emerge - without the pressure to produce immediate results.

The funding initiative covers the fields of natural sciences, life sciences, and engineering sciences.

Target group: Researchers who completed their doctorate before June 1, 2021. Applicants should have an employment contract at a university or research institution both during the funding year and for at least one year after the funding period ends (until at least March 31, 2028).

Funding amount: Up to €200,000 per tandem

Funding period: 1 year

Online consultation sessions on the funding program: April 15, 2025 (in German) and April 24, 2025 (in English). Both sessions will take place from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
