The Medical Faculty of the University of Augsburg is a young medical faculty that focuses on an emerging and future-oriented, internationally attractive, and interdisciplinary scientific profile with its two research priorities: "Environmental Health Sciences" (EHS) and "Medical Information Sciences" (MIS). In addition, it offers excellent opportunities for establishing interconnected healthcare research structures through its clinical profile centers in Vascular Medicine, Tumor Medicine, and Allergology. In medical education, it pursues a modern competency-oriented medical training with the first model study program in Bavaria for a secure healthcare provision of the future. The Augsburg University Hospital offers nearly all medical specialties for the approximately two million residents of the Swabian administrative district. The II Medical Clinic covers the entire spectrum of care for hematological and oncological diseases, including allogeneic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T cell therapy, and all solid tumors, with 163 inpatient beds, making it one of the largest clinics for hematology and oncology in Germany. The Comprehensive Cancer Center Augsburg (CCCA) is part of the CCC WERA Alliance of the Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Würzburg, Erlangen, Regensburg, and Augsburg, has achieved the status of an Oncological Excellence Center of the Cancer Aid in this network, and is recognized as a site of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT). The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Augsburg is seeking to make the following appointment at the earliest possible starting date. University Professor (m/f/d) The appointment is as a tenured public servant. The professorship is associated with the establishment and management of the Experimental Tumor Research unit in the II Medical Clinic. Accordingly, candidates are expected to have an independent scientific profile combined with high professional expertise in the field of experimental or data-based cancer research, including scientific activities in the area of solid tumors. The research activities should show connections with the research program on exposure and disposition of the CCCA and/or with the research areas EHS and MIS. Experience in set-up situations and in leading an independent research team is advantageous. The University of Augsburg aims to attract an outstanding and internationally visible personality with leadership skills, who demonstrates excellent research achievements in experimental or data-based tumor research, as well as strong networking in national and international committees, professional societies, and study groups in the field. Important selection criteria include the ability and willingness to work interdisciplinary in research networks, high-ranking publications, and the ability to acquire competitive third-party funding. The successful acquisition of collaborative research projects is an advantage. Due to the position holder's involvement in medical education, particular commitment and broad experience in modern skills-based teaching, including the use of blended learning formats, are desirable and should be reflected in a specific teaching concept. Proof of a didactic qualification is advantageous. Recruitment requirements for the professorship are a completed university degree in medicine or a medical-related subject in the natural sciences or other relevant fields. In addition, pedagogical aptitude, proven teaching experience, special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by a doctorate, as well as the habilitation or proof of equivalent scientifically relevant achievements in the advertised subject area which may also have been achieved in the context of a junior professorship or outside academia, are required. Leadership of a junior research group is considered an equivalent academic achievement under the conditions specified in Art. 98 Para 10 Sentence 5 BayHIG. Appointment as a public servant can only take place so long as one is not over 52 years of age. Otherwise, employment is possible within the framework of an employment contract under private law.
