Social Scientist / Researcher (m/f/d)
 

with regular working hours in a fixed-term employment relationship for 36 months from the start of the project. The position can be filled part-time. Remuneration in accordance with pay group 13 TV-L if the personal and pay scale requirements are met.

Responsibilities:

The social scientist will play a leading role in the Augsburg axis of the EU Horizon project YOUROPE, which aims to develop and implement programmes to promote democratic values and European citizenship among young people. The ideal candidate will have a relevant background in social sciences, with a focus on civic research, civic education and participation research.

Job assignments:

  • Citizenship and participation research
  • Development and implementation of educational interventions and materials tailored to different target groups, including students and pupils, teachers and the public.
  • Collaboration with external partners, including regional schools, academic institutions, NGOs and governmental bodies, to ensure the successful realisation of the project objectives.
  • Coordinating project activities with European partners.
  • Organising and participating in workshops, seminars and conferences to disseminate project results.
  • Preparation of detailed reports, policy recommendations and scientific publications.
  • Regular project reporting.
  • Participation in the evaluation of the project.

Qualifications:

  • Very good degree or PhD in social sciences, political science, education or a related field.
  • Strong publication record and proven research specialisation in civic education, action research, citizenship research or a related field.
  • Commitment, communication skills and ability to work in a team, also with regard to different target groups.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and international team, but also with local students and stakeholders in Augsburg.
  • Experience in project coordination and reporting with European partners.
  • Competent handling of social science working techniques and methods and the relevant digital tools (at least MAXQDA, ZOTERO, MS-OFFICE package).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and German; other European languages are an advantage.
